Communicating for Health and WellnessDecember 12, 2017

Increasingly I hear of a loved one or their loved one who has cancer. Privately, I offer to send information others have found healing. It’s the same information that I offered Esther, my new mother-in-law, when chemotherapy proved too harsh for her.
Careful to avoid overstepping healthful boundaries, I suggested Esther balance her body’s pH by restoring its alkalinity.
Curious, Esther asked me to clarify.
I told her about my vegetable garden. When my soil is acidic, I add agriculture lime to restore its alkalinity. When the pH of my soil is balanced, my vegetables thrive.
Cancer grows in bodies that are acidic; it is unlikely to thrive in bodies that remain alkaline.
I suggested Esther buy pH strips to test her body’s alkalinity. If she found her body acidic, she could ingest fewer acidic foods and beverages, such as red meat and coffee, and eat more organic vegetables — local when possible.
Grimacing, Esther expressed her distaste for vegetables.
Jokingly, I suggested she try what my siblings and I had recommended to my cousin, Robert, when, as kids, he’d join our family for dinner.
Like us, Robert had to stay seated at our dinner table until he had finished eating all his vegetables. We’d say, “Robert, just hold your nose and you won’t taste anything!”
Esther laughed.
I asked Esther whether she might find it helpful to buy a juicer. That way, she could drink a vegetable smoothie that contained several of at least five recommended daily vegetables at once.
One smoothie recipe recommended by my nutritionist contains equal parts cucumber, carrots and celery, with a sliver of beet. Other recipes sweeten three vegetables with a single fruit.
Personally, my body feels best when I consume no more than two or three servings of organic fruit or healthful sweets daily.
Enjoying Moderation and Balance
I’ve learned to read food labels on trusted brands to ensure my family’s organic bread, yogurt and similarly prepared foods each contain less than 20 grams of sugar. I also vary our vegetables.
At home, I feel best when we separate carbohydrates from protein because our bodies digest them differently.
As a foodie who loves to cook, I generally eat carbohydrates for lunch and some type of protein for breakfast and dinner. The former provides energy, and the latter helps keep our hormones balanced.
If my energy wanes around 3 p.m., I sometimes eat a handful of organic nuts. A healthy protein snack can reenergize our bodies and help process sugar.
Esther’s Cancer Symptoms Subsided Within a Few Days
A few days after I spoke with Esther, I visited her at home for the first time. Surprisingly, I found her standing beside her kitchen counter, holding her nose while drinking a vegetable smoothie.
Within a few days of ingesting at least five vegetables a day, Esther’s body became alkaline and her cancer symptoms subsided!
To more quickly boost our body’s alkalinity, it sometimes helps to eat miso soup for breakfast. You can also drink pure organic cranberry juice diluted with water.
Diaphragmatic Breathing Eases Pressure on our Heart and Lungs
Also potentially transformative is the often overlooked healing power of diaphragmatic breathing. Shifting from shallow chest breathing to steady diaphragmatic breaths can alleviate pressure on our heart and lungs.
Diaphragmatic breathing can also aid relaxation, which reduces stomach acid and helps boost alkalinity.
Relaxation further aids digestion. My family and I learned to avoid viewing, listening to, or discussing stressful news and information during mealtime. We set aside mealtime to relax and be social — to celebrate milestones, trial recipes and our favorite foods!
The Benefits of Bioenergetic Testing
Becoming alkaline may take additional measures for some people.
A friend with breast cancer went so far as to become macrobiotic and found her body still acidic. I referred her to a reliable nutritionist who provides computerized bioenergetic testing to discern whether her body needed a detox. Further, she may have regularly consumed foods her body needed to avoid, avoided foods she needed, and/or required a health or lifestyle change.
Non-invasive bioenergetic testing can efficiently and safely eliminate guesswork related to diet, medicines, and nutritional supplements. Each body is unique and responds to medicines and foods differently. Pre-symptomatic testing can also identify viruses, bacteria, parasites, pollutants and more.
Bioenergetic testing for my mom revealed that her heart medication had been adversely affecting her liver. To remedy this negative side effect, my mom received testing for a high-quality supplement that counteractively strengthened her liver.
Further testing revealed her body’s response to that liver supplement, together with her medication and five additional recommended supplements. Those supplements included vitamin C, probiotics, and digestive enzymes — each in their recommended amounts.
We knew to avoid confusing our bodies and possibly obstruct healing by taking too many medicines or supplements at once.
Sadly, unlike my mom, my friend adhered to failing therapies and her health suffered.
Following the Metaphoric Wisdom of our Bodies
Oncologists in Mexico and elsewhere provide non-toxic therapies that have enabled even pancreatic cancer patients to live 30 years and longer. Independently research your options and be proactive about prevention.
Throughout the process, be as forgivingly patient and tolerant with yourself as you are with others.
I’ve learned to meditatively reflect on (breathe in and through) fearful and negative emotions, rather than let them fester and metaphorically eat away at me. My enhanced awareness of biases and unprocessed emotions makes me more responsive, rather than reactive.
I’ve also learned to avoid naysayers, regardless of their credentials. As old-time doctors knew, a person’s state-of-mind can directly influence their health and healing.
With transformative faith and gratitude, I listen to the metaphoric wisdom of my objective body. My husband and I happily indulge in a delicious medley of at least five GMO- and chemical-free organic vegetables daily.
As Esther varied her vegetables and maintained her body’s alkalinity, she grew healthier as she grew older. Both she and my mom stayed strong and vibrant for years!
